Winter is a great time to experience the North Maine Woods. If you like playing outside we have the place to recreate. There are plenty of groomed trails to snowmobile on, plenty of ice to fish, and toasty cabins to relax in.

Winter Recreation Activities

  • ICE FISH on the Jo Mary Lakes

  • Enjoy a GUIDED SNOWMOBILE OR ICE FISHING EXPERIENCE in the North Maine Woods. 

What to expect at Buckhorn Camps during winter season:

  • Buckhorn Camps is accessible in the winter by snowmobile, skis, snowshoes, plane (with skis). We are located off ITS 109N, look for our signs. Approximately

  • Our rustic log cabins are heated with wood stoves (we supply the wood) and lit by propane lights. No electricity or internet in our cabins. 
  • You will be completely immersed in nature, where you can unplug and relax by the warm fire.
  • There is no water (in cabin faucets/shower) during winter season. Upon your arrival, we will provide water jugs for drinking/cooking/cleaning along with buckets of water to flush the toilets. Hot showers are available in the main lodge during the winter season.
  • Buckhorn is conveniently located off ITS 109N on Middle Jo Mary Lake. Look for Buckhorn Camps signs. Approximately a 40-minute ride from South Twin Lake public parking area.
