Discover the peace, tranquility, and world-class fishing of Middle Jo-Mary and Lower Jo-Mary lakes in the North Maine Woods! We are located near Mount Katahdin and the Appalachian Trail 100-Mile Wilderness region.

Upland Game Birds

Grouse hunting in the Maine woods is second to none in the entire United States. Come enjoy Maine’s vast woods full of grouse and let our guide and your dog find you some great grouse action.

Buckhorn Camps offers guided and unguided moose hunts. In order to participate in a Moose hunt, the hunter must have won a Maine Moose Lottery Permit.

Guided Moose Hunts Include

  • Registered Maine Guide
  • Flying to the area the day before the hunt to locate the moose
  • Care of meat and trophy
  • Removal of the moose from the woods.
  • Please note – we may be accessing hunting areas by boat, canoe, or truck and calling them in.

Unguided moose hunts will include lodging and meals. We will assist you once you have harvested your moose to get it out of the woods.

Buckhorn offers both semi guided and unguided deer hunts. Please remember that these are big woods, and the deer numbers are probably not what you’re used to seeing where you’re from. The opportunity to harvest one of Maine monster whitetail and the buck of your dreams is certainly a possibility. These deer are huge.

Semi guided hunts include our guides helping you locate areas where the deer have been monitored. We will place stands in prime areas for you to use and help you understand the terrain so your hunt can be successful and safe. We will also assist game care and removal.

Unguided hunts are for the people that may already know the area. For these hunters we provide lodging and meals. We will try to assist with any needs you might have such as finding lost game if we are available.
